Sky Sports pundit Danny Higginbotham has criticised Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore’s end product on Sky Sports News (10am on March 7), as per This is Futbol.

What’s the word, then?

Well, Higginbotham was speaking on Sky Sports News prior to the west Midlands outfit’s Premier League trip to Chelsea on Sunday, and he was asked about the 23-year-old attacker.

The summer signing from Middlesbrough has found regular first-team starts hard to come by for Wolves so far this term, but he impressed in a wing-back and then a wing role when handed a spot in the XI by Nuno Santo for the 2-0 win against Cardiff City last weekend.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, via This is Futbol, the 40-year-old said: “It’s his end product, that’s the biggest thing with Traore. I’ve not seen a player quicker than him – he’s so direct, so strong – but a lot of the time it is his end ball.

“That final decision-making, whether he be going for goal, whether it be a pass.”

Is he right?

He certainly is.

In terms of sheer pace and trickery the former Barcelona starlet has the world at his feet, and if he can start to add more goals and assists to his game – as he did at times for Boro in the Championship – then there is no doubt that he can go on to bigger and better things.

He has the speed to frighten opposition defenders and get the better of them, and now he needs to show that on a more consistent basis under Nuno Santo.

Following his most recent display and with the club having little to play for in the Premier League, he may be given that opportunity in the coming weeks.

Well, it had to end, didn’t it?

Manchester United’s perfect away record under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was ended by a determined Arsenal side on Sunday night. A night when the wind blew viciously across the country, United missed a flurry of chances and went down despite arguably being the better team.

Arsenal were clinical enough in the little chances they had to topple over the Red Devils, while also regaining momentum prior to their UEFA Europa League encounter on Thursday. While United attacked with vigour and intensity, they missed that lethal spark. Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford missed someone behind them, basically a runner to compliment their moves.

That runner, incidentally, happens to be Jesse Lingard, rated at £36m by Transfermarkt these days. Infamous for his antics at the Emirates Stadium, Lingard’s absence hit United hard on Sunday. The Red Devils created 12 chances in the game while having four shots on target (stats via Fotmob). Bernd Leno was sharp to thwart danger, but Lukaku and Rashford both fell victims of being pressurized to finish chances.

With Paul Pogba operating deeper than usual, United needed someone to run into the box as Lingard does. As he’s done in recent games against the Gunners, he caused defensive malfunctions by getting into the right place at the right time.

Solskjaer missed that Lingard’s unpredictability and his ability to finish off moves on Sunday.  With games coming thick and fast, this disappointing loss proves how Ole needs Lingard and company back soon to compete at the top and regain their winning streak soon.

شبكة “BBC” البريطانية، قالت إن مانشستر يونايتد لا ينوي التعاقد مع قلب دفاع، حيث أن المدرب أوليه جونار سولشاير، لديه ثقة في اللاعبين الحاليين.

Gini Wijnaldum has not yet been offered a new contract at title challengers and Champion’s League quarter-finalists Liverpool, despite having just over two years remaining on his current deal.

The Liverpool Echo reveal that the Dutchman is relaxed about the situation, but it is something Liverpool fans will be hoping is resolved sooner rather than later, with the midfielder being an integral cog in Jurgen Klopp’s red machine.

But few Newcastle supporters would have any sympathy for their former player, accusing him of lacking fight and commitment when he jumped ship in the aftermath of the Magpies’ relegation from the Premier League in 2016.

He was, of course, top scorer that season, and although many players vowed to stand by the club and see them out of a relegation that they took responsibility for, Wijnaldum was not one of them.

In subsequent games between the two clubs, the player has been roundly booed by the Newcastle fans, with him receiving similar treatment to that meted out to another former midfielder who was seen to have went to Liverpool for selfish reasons, Dietmar Hamann.

Newcastle fans would warn Liverpool fans that failure to win trophies, will likely mean that he will make a similar move away from Anfield,

The report says that Wijnaldum has not spoken to the club yet and he “will see what happens”, but that his focus is solely on winning both the Premier League title and Champion’s League this season.

It is likely to be just a matter of time until a new contract is offered to the Dutch playmaker, but the club and fans alike will not want the situation running into the final year of his current deal, when, as everyone knows, heads can be turned by the big clubs in Spain and Italy.

Scotland were humiliated by Kazakhstan on Thursday afternoon, and Aberdeen’s Graeme Shinnie is getting absolutely crucified for his performance.

Scotland travelled to the Astana Arena in Nursultan for their first Euro 2020 qualifier on Wednesday, and let’s just say things didn’t go to plan for Alex McLeish’s side.

The hosts took the lead after just six minutes when Yuriy Pertsukh capitalised on some awful defending before Yan Vorogovskiy did the exact same five minutes later to make it 2-0.

The 27 year-old was at fault for the third goal and didn’t cover himself in glory during the early onslaught either, constantly caught out of position.

West Ham United are in a good position to launch a proper push for a Europa League spot at the moment and their imminent encounter with Everton on Saturday is a perfect opportunity to show their desire to play in the European competition next season.

The Hammers are currently ninth in the Premier League but only two points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are in seventh and have enjoyed a very successful season back in top-flight football.

Indeed, should the Hammers deliver a good performance over Marco Silva’s charges then they could climb up the table, depending on what happens in Wolves’ clash with Burnley on the same day. Manuel Pellegrini’s men, though, have played one more match than Wolves but have looked good in recent weeks, delivering encouraging performances, especially at home where they will host Everton on Saturday.

West Ham came from behind to beat Huddersfield Town 4-3 at the London Stadium last weekend and showed great ambition to force the Terriers all the way, eventually scoring a stoppage-time winner. Considering the nature of their attacking squad, that’s exactly what Hammers fans will want.

The east London club had a difficult start to the season but Pellegrini has managed to get his team back into the contest for a good finish to their campaign with the likes of Felipe Anderson, Declan Rice and Javier Hernandez playing key roles in their good form of late.

Manuel Pellegrini can bring West Ham United’s European dreams to life by beating the Toffees on Saturday as Wolves might start to feel a bit of pressure as the season draws to a close.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team have looked very composed and determined this season and they’ve pushed some of the bigger clubs very far when they played them, picking up points at Old Trafford, the Emirates, Wembley and Stamford Bridge not too long ago.

Pellegrini’s first campaign risks petering out if a European spot gets too far away but a key win over Everton can revitalise their campaign.

Swansea City fans have been reacting to the club’s financial losses after their annual accounts were published.

Swansea managed to make a loss of £3.2million despite being in the Premier League for the previous financial year and bringing in all the TV revenue that comes with the top flight.

Graham Potter’s side have underperformed in the second tier this season, currently sitting 14th in the table when they were expected to be challenging for promotion.

Swansea’s financial losses have caused concern amongst some members of the fanbase with their losses  likely to be even worse when the next reports come out as the club no longer have the income that accompanies Premier League teams.

The Swans have a huge wage budget due to players such as Andre Ayew and Wilfried Bony still being on the books and some fans are expecting further losses in future reports.
