وقال جوارديولا في تصريحات بالمؤتمر الصحفي الخاص بالمباراة: “سام ألارديس عبقري، عندما يتعلق الأمر بتدريب فرق مثل وست بروميتش”.

وأضاف: “لديه العديد من اللاعبين الرائعين، يمتلك فريقه سرعة كبيرة، يقدمون أداءً جيدًا في كل الكرات الهوائية والعرضيات، علينا أن نكون حذرين أمامهم”.

وأكد: “النتائج تمنحنا الثقة، في بعض الأحيان تعتقد أن هذه هي الأشياء التي تجعلك تلعب بشكل جيد، لكن الحقيقة أن الأداء الجيد يؤدي للنتيجة الإيجابية”.

واختتم: “لم يكن لدينا الكثير من الوقت بعد مباراة شلتنهام في كأس الاتحاد، لكن تدربنا جيدًا، ونحن متفائلون قبل مواجهة وست بروميتش”.

اعترف يورجن كلوب مدرب فريق ليفربول إنه سيكون متفاجئًا إذا تمكن اللاعب جو جوميز من العودة إلى الملاعب قبل نهاية الموسم الحالي.

وابتعد جوميز عن مباريات ليفربول منذ تعرضه لتمزق في وتر الرضفة في شهر نوفمبر الماضي خلال مشاركته في التدريبات مع منتخب إنجلترا.

وخضع الإنجليزي لعملية جراحية إثر ذلك ويعمل حاليًا وفقًا لبرنامج إعادة التأهيل.

وواصل: “هل سيكون جوميز متاحًا هذا الموسم؟ متي سينتهي الموسم؟ مايو؟ سأقول إنه سيكون قريبًا على الأقل”.

وتابع: “لا أتوقع أن يكون متاحًا، سأكون متفاجئًا إذا عاد جوميز هذا الموسم، علي أن أكون صادقًا”.

Tottenham Hotspur have tabled a bid worth €23m (£20.6m) plus Toby Alderweireld for Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, per Corriere dello Sport.

What’s the word?

Spurs have been linked with Zaniolo throughout the summer transfer window and are now reported to have made a formal offer.

The midfielder is also wanted by Juventus and Liverpool, the report claims, and he is said to prefer a move to the Old Lady, as he does not feel ready for a move abroad.

Nevertheless, Spurs are said to have offered to increase his wages as they look to secure yet more summer signings, having already acquired both Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon and Jack Clarke from Leeds United.

Alderweireld has been linked with Roma and it appears that Spurs are now attempting to incorporate him into the deal.

A move is complicated by the fact that, per Corriere, Zaniolo’s potential transfer to Juve is said to depend on the future of Gonzalo Higuain, who could potentially move to Roma in exchange.

The 20-year-old, they state, could reconsider Spurs’ offer, if an agreement with Juve is not reached.

The best way to lose Alderweireld

The central defender, of course, has a £25m release clause in his contract that could be triggered at any time this summer.

Utilising him in this way, by offering him to Roma in exchange for Zaniolo, makes a lot of sense, then.

It ensures that Spurs are in control of his movements and a club matching the clause, particularly in the closing stages of the transfer window, will not suddenly surprise them.

Zaniolo has made a total of 36 appearances for Roma, scoring six goals and registering two assists, from an attacking midfield position.

Aged 20, he has yet to reach his peak and could grow under Mauricio Pochettino’s management, while Alderweireld is 30 and is heading towards the twilight of his career.

This is a swap that makes all the sense in the world.

According to Tuttosport newspaper (16/07) via TuttoMercatoWeb, Milan will consider a move for Manchester United defender Eric Bailly as an alternative to signing Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren.

What’s the word?

The report claims that the Serie A giants could switch their attentions to the Ivory Coast international after appearing to be priced out of a move for Lovren.

It adds that new Milan manager Marco Giampaolo is keen on signing a first-team defender this summer and that Bailly is amongst the club’s prime targets.

Keep him at all costs

In yet another injury-blighted season, Bailly still managed to show the type of performances that got United to sign him in the first place. The 25-year-old’s mixture of athleticism and strong defending seems like a great mix for the Premier League, but injuries and setbacks have stopped him from enjoying a sustained run in the first-team at Old Trafford.

Reports in recent weeks and months had even suggested that French side Lyon were keen on luring him away from Manchester, and now the added interest of Milan certainly confirms his status as a wanted around Europe.

Indeed, having joined the Red Devils back in 2016, Bailly is about to enter the last year of his contract at the club and cashing in on him – particularly with a move for Harry Maguire still in the pipeline – seems like a logical thing to do.

But, if the Ivorian can stay injury-free – and it is a massive if – then United will surely have the long-term centre-back partner were Maguire to arrive. Their combination of pace and power at the back would bode well for the kind of front-foot style of play Solskjaer is looking to impose at Old Trafford.

Indeed, his former boss at Villareal, Marcelino, remarked: “He’s an extraordinary player and an extraordinary person. I wish nothing but the best for him and I feel his youth will help him through these hard times and he will be very important for United.

“I think he’s playing really well for United when he plays, but because of his injuries he’s not getting the luck he deserves.”

So whilst selling him this summer might seem an attractive proposition, keeping Bailly could see the defender eventually repay that faith.

Arsenal look set to sign Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid.

Sky Sports reports that the club are closing in on a deal for the Spanish midfielder, with manager Zinedine Zidane simply needing to confirm the move.

Tottenham Hotspur were also said to be interested but the Daily Mirror reports that they are allowing their north London rivals to win the race because “they had no intention of being used as a platform”.

Indeed, Football FanCast sources confirmed earlier in the transfer window that Spurs were in talks over a loan deal but wanted to include a purchase option that would have stood at £45m.

Arsenal do not appear to have struck a deal with a permanent option and as such, Spurs were absolutely right to pull out.

A move for the Spain Under-21 international, who won the European Championships with his country in the summer, would have strengthened the club’s midfield ranks and added an extra dimension to their summer recruitment.

While the deal will not have cost all that much up front, it may well have motivated Ceballos to earn his stripes in north London and work his way to a permanent contract.

As it is, he is set for a brief sojourn in north London as he is said to believe he can get more first-team opportunities at the Emirates Stadium.

That is probably true as he would have been up against the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen for a starting berth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But it also speaks to a questionable mentality and a suggestion that he doesn’t quite have the stomach for the fight at Spurs.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was reportedly very keen to bring Ceballos in, even discussing a move with the player, but letting Arsenal win the race now feels like the right move.

Had they not, Ceballos would have used the club as a stepping stone, returning to Real for the 2020/21 season as he looks to establish himself in La Liga.

Arsenal have been played; he will simply use the club to raise his own profile in pursuit of his own goals.

Spurs have seen through the ruse.
