Romano shares what he’s been "told" on Man Utd injury to "outstanding" ace

Manchester United have suffered a culmination of injuries this term and world-renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has now issued a new update on one of the Red Devils' most recent concerns.

Manchester United's injury list…

Erik ten Hag has endured a stop-start time of things so far this campaign. However, the Dutchman will protest that his lengthy injury list has definitely contributed to his side's patchy form. Manchester United are missing the likes of Casemiro, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Rasmus Hojlund, Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo and Tyrell Malacia among others as they attempt to fight on multiple fronts to bring success to Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho is also a long-standing absentee in the North West due to his public spat with Ten Hag earlier this term, leaving the Red Devils light in the wide areas, though his omission has afforded additional opportunities to Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellestri to stake their claim for first-team action.

Nevertheless, despite United's improved form in the Premier League, injury issues continue to loom large at Old Trafford ahead of a tough run of fixtures that will start to take shape beyond the current international break.

Starting next weekend, Ten Hag's side will travel to face an aggrieved Everton at Goodison Park in their first match since being deducted ten points for breaching financial rules, in an affair that is likely to produce an extremely hostile atmosphere on Merseyside.

Following on from their trip to Goodison Park, the Red Devils will face Galatasaray in the Champions League away from home and then take on Newcastle United and Chelsea in quick succession, in a run that could make or break their aspirations in 2023/24.

Now, journalist Romano has given an important update involving one other key Manchester United player who has rcnrtly suffered an injury scare.

Fabrizio Romano drops Andre Onana injury latest

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was taken off on international duty last Friday with Cameroon in a 3-0 victory over Mauritius due to suffering discomfort during proceedings, sparking fears that the 27-year-old could be out for an extended period.

Now, Romano has taken to social media platform X to deliver an update on the former Inter Milan stopper's situation, as he stated to his followers:

"Understand initial indications on André Onana injury are optimistic. It’s a shoulder problem but doesn’t look like a serious one. Told Onana is expected to be fit for the upcoming games with Man United."

Andre Onana

In news that will come as a relief to Manchester United fans, Onana, who was hailed "outstanding" by journalist Solace Chukwu earlier this year, now looks set to be available for a difficult period of upcoming fixtures for the Red Devils, preventing another major injury scare for Ten Hag to contend with.

Of course, some will feel Onana could have made a better start to life at Old Trafford; nevertheless, he will be able to hopefully prove his worth at Manchester United over the next few weeks.

Liverpool eyeing move for "incredible" attacker who has "dazzled" this season

Liverpool are keen on making a move for an "incredible" attacking player, but other Premier League clubs are providing competition, a new report has revealed.

Liverpool linked with Andre and Inacio

The January transfer window is fast approaching, at which point Jurgen Klopp could be keen to add to his squad, making it even more formidable for the second half of the season and beyond. Liverpool reportedly want to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre, with the Brazilian a player who continues to be in the headlines at the moment, and it does look increasingly as though the move could happen.

His current club will likely allow him to leave at the end of the year after he stayed on and helped them win the Copa Libertadores last weekend, and Anfield appears to be his most likely destination. Elsewhere, there is a chance that Klopp could also aim to strengthen other areas of the pitch, potentially bringing in a younger centre-back, with Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio linked with the Reds numerous times in recent months.

A new attacker also isn't out of the question, and with Mohamed Salah's Liverpool future possibly up in the air heading into next season, Juventus' Federico Chiesa keeps being tipped to move to Anfield in the near future. Now, a fresh transfer story has dropped, as the Reds eye up the signing of an in-form gem who could have a big future in the game.

Liverpool transfer news – Assane Diao

According to a new report from Mucho Deporte [via Sport Witness], Liverpool are interested in snapping up Real Betis attacker Assane Diao, who has a €30m (£26m) release clause in his current deal, which his current club want to increase to €40m (£34.7m) in a new deal.

The Reds are not alone in expressing a willingness to acquire the 18-year-old's signature, however, with Newcastle United and Chelsea credited with interest, too. The report states that Diao has "dazzled" for Betis so far this season, and he is now seen as a "very attractive" proposition for other clubs.

Liverpool were linked with a move for Diao during the summer transfer window, so they have seen him as an exciting option for some time, and it seems clear that they still consider him a player who could be a long-term success story on Merseyside.

Klopp may have a wealth of attacking options at his disposal at the moment, but there will come a point when he needs to rebuild that area, and Diao could be someone who is a big part of that.

Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has claimed that the young Spaniard is having an "incredible time" at the moment, with Diao's statistics showing that he has scored twice in six La Liga starts this season, making a real impact despite his tender years.

Predominantly a right-sided attacking player, it could even be that the Betis man is seen as the eventual successor to Salah on that flank, and while that would be massive shoes to fill, he is already showing the influence he can have in one of Europe's top leagues.

Marcus Trescothick signs on to play for Somerset until 43

County cricket’s Grand Old Man ended the annual stage-managed Somerset ritual about whether he would extend his career with the confirmation that he had signed a new one-year contract

David Hopps25-Sep-2018Marcus Trescothick, county cricket’s Grand Old Man, ended the annual stage-managed Somerset ritual about whether he would extend his career for another year with the confirmation that he had signed a new one-year contract which will take him beyond his 43rd birthday.Traditionally, as befits the modern era where county cricket clubs imagine themselves as media outlets, Somerset’s website “exclusively revealed” the result of his deliberations around the time that they secured runners-up spot in Division One. White smoke, a byproduct of a simmering cider vat perhaps, rose over Taunton. That Trescothick will be free to choose the time of this departure is a given, such has been his positive influence upon the county for nearly three decades.By ending his deliberations and judging that he is ready to play on, he will again hope to be part of the first Somerset side to win the Championship: not just part of, the symbol of it. They have rarely had a stronger side in their history and Surrey’s runaway Championship success this summer was a disappointment as Somerset sought to end their barren run.The summer of 2019 will be Trescothick’s 27th season as a Somerset player. He has scored more first-class centuries (52) and more List A runs (7374) than any player in the club’s history, although it would take more than one season for him to overhaul Harold Gimblett’s record number of first-class runs for the county.Trescothick told the Somerset website: “”I’m delighted to have signed for at least another year. I still have the drive, passion and energy to want to get better and strive to perform for the team. I’ve always said that I want to continue to play for Somerset for as long as possible and that feeling has not changed.”Getting better sounds unlikely – although his return of 491 runs at 27.27 in a season wrecked by a broken foot is arguably his least successful, so he will be ambitious to improve on that – but that he will strive to maintain standards and remain an inspirational figure for everybody connected with Somerset cricket is assured.Somerset’s director of cricket, Andy Hurry said: “When you think of Somerset County Cricket Club you think of Marcus Trescothick. His work ethic is second to none and you simply can’t measure what he brings to the club behind the scenes and in the dressing room. He is the epitome of what a professional sportsman should be.”We had a number of discussions throughout the season and he made it very clear that he still has the drive and he wants to continue playing whilst he can still positively impact games.”His verdict is that he still believes he can.

EURO 2032: All The Info As Italy & Turkey Win Hosting Rights

Football FanCast updates you with all the latest news surrounding EURO 2032.

As Germany prepares to host next year's European Championships, the focus will quickly turn to the following two tournaments and UEFA have today announced the winning hosts.

FFC will takes a detailed look at the 2032 host and their plans for the showpiece tournament.

Who is hosting EURO 2032?

Italy and Turkey will co-host EURO 2032, ending the Turkish Football Federation's five-time bid failure.

UEFA have rejected Turkey's last five attempts to host the European Championship, but with Italy joining forces, their sixth endeavour will finally bear fruit.

Italy, on the other hand, have hosted the showpiece event in recent times, staging four EURO 2020 fixtures, including the opening game between themselves and Turkey, ironically.

Interestingly, before the two federations teamed up to submit a joint bid, Turkey were thought to be leading the race to land the tournament.

Prior to the announcement, when speaking to Italian-based news outlet Gazzetta, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said: “Türkiye is a big competitor for Euro 2032 and is currently the favourite over Italy."

The reason is unclear as to why both nations ditched their individual attempts, particularly Turkey, who looked in good stead to have their bid accepted. Nevertheless, doing it this way removes any risk of missing out, and allows fans to experience two cultures.

Who was bidding to host EURO 2032?

Initially, Italy and Turkey were two separate bidders hoping to host EURO 2032.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) was planning to bid for EURO 2028, but decided against doing so, instead opting to submit their dossier for the 2032 edition to allow more time to redevelop facilities.

TFF's bid was planned for either EURO 2028 or 2032, however, UEFA confirmed that the TFF and the FIGC requested for their bids to be merged, leaving the UK and Ireland's 2028 proposal unopposed for the former, with Turkey unable to host both events.

Russia's proposed bid was declared ineligible by UEFA.

Italy: Which stadiums are potential EURO 2032 venues?

As part of the requirements to host EURO 2028 (which presumably are the same as 2032), nations must have a minimum of one stadium with a net seating capacity of at least 60,000, one (preferably two) with at least 50,000, four stadiums with at least 40,000 and three stadiums with at least 30,000.

As such, the potential venues in Italy are:

Stadium

The average capacity across the 10 stadiums stands at 44,458.

Turkey: Which stadiums are potential EURO 2032 venues?

The potential venues in Turkey are:

The average stadium capacity stands at 44,585, which is almost identical to that of Italy.

UEFA will select 10 stadiums, five per country, to stage EURO 2032. They have confirmed this process will conclude by October 2026.

What are the positives of Italy & Turkey hosting?

As previously mentioned, this was the Turkish Football Federation's (TFF) sixth consecutive attempt to host a European Championship.

That in itself shows the federation's continued hunger and desire to deliver a premier tournament. Additionally, the experience gained from each process will no doubt have been beneficial in their planning, with years of careful due diligence already conducted.

Sports Minister Muharrem Kasapoglu – prior to the announcement – said Turkey's facilities and infrastructure could add value to the tournament.

"The quality of our facilities, infrastructure, accommodation, young population.

"When you put it all together, we can say that our country shines like a star and is one of the most important sports destinations in the world. I think that Türkiye can add important value to Euro 2028 and Euro 2032.

"By becoming a candidate for the fifth time in a row to organize Europe’s biggest tournament at the national team level, our federation has once again shown its determination to the entire world.

"We have always prided ourselves on our modern stadiums and facilities, the passion for football in our country and our high level of organization," Kasapoglu said.

Turkey have also hosted multiple European finals, including last season's Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan.

Whilst there were negative experiences faced by fans at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, it's worth considering that there will be key lessons learned from the organisers, which can be put in place ahead of 2032 to avoid a recurrence of any issues raised.

Meanwhile, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina believes Italy and Turkey's joint bid promotes the values of friendship.

"In addition to bringing two consolidated entities in the European football scene closer together, this project promotes the values of friendship and cooperation, involving two worlds characterised by deep historical roots and two cultures which, over the millennia, have mutually influenced each other, helping to shape the history of Mediterranean Europe in the process.

"Football aims to be a gateway for sharing the passions and emotions related to sport," Gravina said.

Having two host nations also presents fans with the opportunity to experience two different countries, along with their respective cultures and communities, further promoting a diverse tournament.

Both nations are rich in footballing history and have tremendously passionate fans, which will be beneficial in creating a captivating atmosphere.

What are the drawbacks of Italy & Turkey's hosting?

Last month's Champions League final in Istanbul exposed several flaws that will need addressing ahead of the European Championships in 2032.

The NGTC Group, who are experts in crowd management, released a report citing the many problems match goers faced leading up to, during and after the match.

Firstly, some of the supporters were reportedly left waiting for up to three hours in the midday sun for their transport to the stadium. When able to board the shuttle buses, they were overcrowded, with poor air conditioning and no available toilets.

The journey was initially expected to take an hour but stretched up to two and a half hours, to much of the fans' frustration.

Further, there were some complaints regarding the fan park, with issues relating to catering, toilets and seats for the less-able. The stadium also had sharp edges around the rim of the seating, which caused injury for some.

Following the match, many who were returning to the buses discovered unstable rubble walkways, lack of lighting and absent staff members, causing confusion and distress.

The NGTC closed their report with a few areas to focus on, ahead of the next major event held at the stadium:

"Ensuring adequate transport facilities, equipping fan parks with sufficient amenities, and maintaining ethical conduct among all staff members are some of the crucial areas to focus on. Perhaps most importantly, a dedicated and well-qualified security team."

Italy, on the other hand, have a great deal of renovating work to do on their stadia ahead of 2032, as most of their proposed venues fail to meet UEFA's criteria.

The governing bodies President Ceferin claims none of the stadiums are fit for purpose to even host the Champions League final.

Speaking to Italian-based news outlet Gazzetta, Ceferin said: "At the moment, there is not even a stadium in Italy that can host the Champions League final. This is something incredible. The UEFA needs more stadium guarantee."

It shouldn't, however, be an issue by the time the tournament comes around, as the FIGC do intend to redevelop much of the proposed venues. Across the 10 possible stadiums named, six are expected to undergo renovation.

The final drawback of the joint bid is travel. With two countries scheduled to host the event, it will mean fans will need to travel between countries, making it far more costly and inconvenient.

Further, the likely increase in flights between Turkey and Italy isn't exactly promoting an environmentally friendly tournament. The average flight time between the two nations is 3 hours and one minute, which is something worth noting.

Man Utd: Old Trafford side have been rinsed £108m by "waste of talent"

Manchester United haven’t kicked on this term following a highly encouraging first season under the leadership of Erik ten Hag.

A League Cup triumph and a return to the Champions League following a year’s absence gave the United support some much-needed confidence that the club was trending in the right direction.

Although the Red Devils signed the likes of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund during the summer transfer window, they trio haven’t exploded onto the scene at Old Trafford thus far, and it could take some time to see them really thrive.

This has subsequently led to the club underperforming on the pitch, and while injury issues have engulfed the squad, Ten Hag should have vastly improved the depth of the team during the window, something which he may regret now.

Six defeats in 11 matches across all competitions this term isn’t exactly the hallmark of a team who are gunning for success, and the supporters will be hoping the tie against Sheffield United this weekend proves to be a fresh start.

While Ten Hag failed to attract some big names to United in the summer, he also failed to move on some players who might not have a long term future.

Harry Maguire saw a move to West Ham United collapse, while Scott McTominay was also linked with a move throughout the summer, but both have remained in Manchester – until January at least.

Anthony Martial is another player who hasn’t particularly enjoyed much success under Ten Hag and with less than a year left on his current contract, United could lose him for nothing in January, signifying a major loss of money.

How much does Anthony Martial earn at Man Utd?

The Frenchman is currently earning £250k-per-week, which places him joint fourth out of the whole squad, behind only Jadon Sancho, Casemiro and Raphael Varane.

It is a big salary for a player who has failed to contribute effectively since the Dutchman took over United ahead of the 2022/23 season, and it's clear that this sort of money could be better spent elsewhere.

How much did Man Utd sign Anthony Martial for?

Following a rather underwhelming debut season for Louis Van Gaal, he turned to the transfer window in order to improve his squad before the 2015/16 season.

Martial was arguably the most exciting signing, joining on deadline day for a fee in the region of £36m, making him the most expensive teenager in the world at the time.

15 goals in 70 appearances for AS Monaco was enough to convince Van Gaal that he was worth the extravagant fee, but fast-forward eight years later, and he hasn’t lived up to the vast expectations which were placed on him back then.

Louis Saha perhaps placed some undue pressure on the new arrival, saying: "In France we call him the next Thierry Henry because he can play left or right, he's got a great ability with the ball, he can take on three, four players with ease, there is no problem. At the same time, the new generation have no fear."

Despite the praise, he didn’t turn out to be the next Henry and has rinsed the club for millions during his stint in Manchester.

Does Anthony Martial deserve to earn £250k-p/w at Man Utd?

He enjoyed a wonderful start, scoring against Liverpool on his debut at Old Trafford, while going on to net 17 times across all competitions as the club won the FA Cup for the first time since 2004 and the future looked bright.

Under new manager Jose Mourinho, however, he struggled to build on this positive start, netting eight and 11 goals respectively in the following two seasons, while 12 were scored the season after, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had taken over and this gave Martial a much-needed boost.

He enjoyed his greatest-ever return in a United shirt during Solskjaer’s first full season in charge, scoring 23 goals and it certainly looked as though he was ready to finally fulfil his potential.

That was as good as it got for the Frenchman and over the previous three full seasons, he has found the back of the net on just 17 occasions for the Old Trafford side.

Is it any wonder then that Craig Burley described him as a “humongous waste of talent” following the recent defeat to Arsenal and his form this term has been underwhelming.

Indeed, he has fewer goals and assists in the Premier League than Maguire, Jonny Evans or Varane this term, while he ranks tenth in the squad for shots on target per game (0.3), 13th for big chances created (0.8) and 19th for successful dribbles per game (0.2), clearly giving off the impression that his future lies away from Old Trafford.

How much has Anthony Martial cost Man Utd?

Since arriving for an initial £36m transfer fee in the summer of 2015, Martial has earned a staggering £72m in wages up until the start of the current campaign,

The previous two full seasons have seen the forward earn a colossal £13m a year and considering his woeful record in front of goal, plus United’s lack of success, it is hardly money well spent by the club.

By combining his transfer fee and wages earned over the last eight years, Martial has somehow managed to rinse the club of £108m across a 424-week spell, a ludicrous number, and it proves just how badly the Red Devils have conducted themselves in the transfer market.

Anthony Martial West Ham target

Ten Hag will be aiming to at least offload Martial for some sort of fee in January in order to add to his budget, while getting his eye-watering salary off the wage bill.

From prodigious teenager to overhyped flop, Martial’s career hasn’t gone to plan and while he is only 27 years old, his best days look like they are behind him.

If he makes the right move, there is a chance the former Monaco forward could regain his confidence and prove that he still has all the necessary abilities to impress, but the longer his poor performances drag on, the tougher regaining that early potential will be.

Major takeover development emerges at West Brom

West Brom have made a stuttering start to their Championship season, but a major off-field development could help spark them into life, according to a new update.

Will West Brom be promoted to the Premier League?

The Baggies were hoping to be one of the early promotion frontrunners in 2023/24, but things haven't panned out that way yet. Heading into the weekend, Carlos Corberan's side found themselves in the bottom half of the table, having struggled to find consistency, and while it is still clearly early days, improvements are needed if they are to look like genuine promotion hopefuls.

Off-field matters aren't necessarily helping West Brom at the moment, with the ownership of Guochuan Lai not going too swimmingly overall, and the Baggies finding themselves limited in a financial sense, unable to bring in sufficient signings.

Many supporters are hoping for a takeover to come to fruition sooner rather than later, and according to a fresh claim, it looks as though they may be set to get their wish.

Will West Brom's takeover go through?

West Brom winger Matt Phillips.

According to Football Insider, there has now been a significant breakthrough regarding the potential takeover of West Brom in the near future:

"West Brom chiefs are growing in confidence that a takeover deal can be agreed this year after holding exploratory talks, sources have told Football Insider. The Baggies have held talks with multiple parties from the US and the Middle East as they look to find suitors to purchase the club from current owner Guochuan Lai.

"As reported by The Telegraph, the Championship side could face a ‘fire sale’ in January if new owners aren’t found. The club has struggled financially under Guochuan Lai and with the Chinese businessman not willing to inject more funds into the club they could be forced to cut costs this winter.

"West Brom already offloaded a number of first-team players in the summer to lower the wage bill, including the sale of Dara O’Shea to Burnley for a fee less than his release clause. With the threat of a January firesale looming in the background, West Brom have begun the process of contacting potential buyers, with talks held with US investors this month."

This is a massive boost for anyone of a West Brom persuasion, assuming they are behind the idea of new owners coming in and moving the club forward, and it could be a big turning point in their future.

As mentioned, it increasingly feels as though Lai's time as owner needs to come to an end in order to put the Baggies in a stronger financial situation and not leave them having to sell players, while having richer owners could transform their fortunes on and off the pitch.

The fact that talks are already reportedly underway with potential American investors can only be a good thing, and it could give Corberan the opportunity to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window should a takeover be completed before then, allowing West Brom to look more formidable in the second half of the season.

Newcastle Eyeing Move To Sign £51m "Sensation" – Report

Newcastle United are considering a move for Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio, but an approach will only be made on one condition, according to reports.

Where does Goncalo Inacio play?

Inacio is naturally a centre-back who has played his football at the Jose Alvalade Stadium since his childhood days having graduated from the club’s academy to get promoted to the first team back in 2020, and he’s gone on to become a regular feature of the senior fold, making 124 appearances to date.

The Portugal international’s contract isn’t set to expire for another four years, but having delivered a consistent high level of performances under Ruben Amorim last season, he’s been highlighted as a transfer target by PIF and Eddie Howe.

Back in July, Football Insider reported that the Magpies were exploring a move for the 22-year-old who they believe fits the profile of player that they are looking to bolster their ranks with, and there could already be a vacant position waiting for him at St. James’ Park.

Sky Sports presenter Dharmesh Sheth recently claimed that Besiktas are plotting a swoop for Jamaal Lascelles who is open to an exit due to his lack of game time, so if he were to depart, the boss may have already found his captain’s replacement in the form of the colossus over in his homeland.

Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio.

Are Newcastle signing Goncalo Inacio?

According to Football Transfers, Newcastle could “revisit a move” for Inacio, though any deal is dependent on the severity of the injury to Sven Botman who was forced off the pitch during the 2-1 Premier League defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

The Sporting CP star’s deal is believed to include a €60m (£51m) release clause, which is the fee that will need to be paid in order to prise him away before the end of the window.

With Jurgen Klopp’s side and Manchester United having also been linked, as per the same outlet, it’s claimed that the defender is eventually “expected to make a move” to England, though which club he’ll be signing for yet remains to be seen.

How good is Goncalo Inacio?

Standing at 6 foot 1, Inacio poses a strong physical presence in defence and there’s no doubt that he could tighten up Newcastle’s ranks even more, so should he sign on the dotted line before the deadline, it may well be a massive coup for Howe.

The Almada native, who is naturally left-footed, was averaging 1.9 aerial wins and clearances per league game last season, alongside recording a 90% pass success rate which was higher than any of the players achieved in the northeast, showing that his calmness and composure on the ball would be an upgrade on the boss’ current options.

Sporting’s “sensation”, as dubbed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, also provided three assists and scored one goal himself during the previous campaign in Liga Portugal so is even capable of contributing to efforts in the final third, therefore possibly making this a no-brainer of a deal to pursue, and by the looks of things, it could be one to watch.

Fulham: Whites Open Talks For World Cup Star

Fulham are now attempting a late move for Senegal international defender Ismail Jakobs as a report shares an update on transfer talks.

Who will Fulham sign?

Manager Marco Silva has watched three major signings come through the door so far.

Indeed, defender Calvin Bassey is perhaps the most notable of them, with Fulham putting pen to paper on an £18.2 million move to prise him away from Eredivisie giants Ajax.

Meanwhile, former Wolves duo Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore swapped Molineux for Craven Cottage thereafter, with the Whites attempting to strengthen before September 1.

Their trio of deals, though, isn't satisfactory enough from Silva's perspective – as the Fulham boss explained earlier this month that his side quite simply need to be doing more.

"Unfortunately, we need many still. We have some important players injured,” Silva said.

“I hope they can come sooner. We have just two full backs, we need a midfielder too and we have just two wingers so we need another two wingers.

“We have completed our central defenders. I needed these players 15 days or 20 days ago, not now.”

Marco Silva

Fulham were chasing a deal to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi to shore up that area of the squad, but according to reliable media sources, that move has stalled.

The west Londoners now also need a striker to replace the departed Aleksandar Mitrovic, as Silva's former star striker has made a move to the Saudi Pro League to join up with Al-Hilal – where he will partner Neymar going forward.

To succeed Mitrovic, it is reported that Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is of serious interest with talks ongoing, but they'll face some stiff competition from Ligue 1 side Monaco.

Back to Jakobs and the full-back area, Fulham are apparently chasing the Senegalese, with a report from TEAMtalk sharing the latest on their pursuit.

Indeed, the outlet claims they're in ongoing talks to sign the African who featured at last year's 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and he is now a "top target" for Silva personally.

This comes as the full-back area is seen as a transfer "priority", with Leicester City star Timothy Castagne also on Fulham's radar heading into the September 1 deadline.

It's added that the Craven Cottage side are "determined" to win the race for Jakobs in particular, though, with with league rivals Nottingham Forest also in the hunt for his signature.

How good is Ismail Jakobs?

Senegal defender Ismail Jakobs.

The 24-year-old has impressed at Monaco since his transfer from Cologne in 2021, making 41 appearances in all competitions last season.

Jakobs can contribute going forward, too, having registered eight assists in total throughout his total cameos in a Monaco shirt.

The left-back also managed four goals and four assists in 47 appearances whilst he was at Cologne (Transfermarkt), but his discipline behind-the-scenes has been flagged as an issue recently.

"Jakobs was fined for something that will remain internal," said former Monaco manager Phillipe Clement last season.

"It’s clear that it wasn’t good. He understood that. It’s done, but he won’t be part of the squad [against Toulouse]."
